Broker comparison glossary

Shared language keeps matchups comparable. These are the terms we use on scorecards.

Short answer

If two reviews use different meanings for “ECN,” “raw,” or “regulated,” the comparison is already broken. Align definitions first.

Core terms

Legal entity

The company named in your client agreement — not just the brand. Must match a public register entry for your access path.

All-in cost

Spread + commission + relevant overnight financing for the holding period, measured under controlled sampling.

A-book / B-book

Whether flow is mostly hedged externally or internalized. Incentives differ. See a plain explainer on A-book vs B-book economics.

Session overlap

Hours when two major sessions are open. Often tighter majors spreads during London–New York overlap.

Risk-warning percentage

The retail loss-rate disclosure many regions require on CFD marketing. Learn how that percentage is meant to be read before treating it as a quality score.

Slippage

Difference between expected and filled price. More common around news and thin liquidity.

Common mistake

Using “ECN” as a synonym for “always best.” Marketing labels vary; look at account specs and disclosures.

Professional tip

Put glossary terms on your scorecard headers so guest readers know what you measured.
